Versace is an Italian luxury fashion house that was founded in 1978 by the late Gianni Versace. Gianni Versace was a visionary who lived and breathed his opulent dream. His first independent collection launched in 1978 in Milan and with the help of his brother Santo and sister Donatella, he created the Versace empire. He is often credited with the creation of the supermodel, paying vast sums to the likes of Naomi, Linda and Claudia. Tragically shot dead in 1997 on the steps of his Miami home, he left a hugely important legacy to fashion culture. Versace’s designs came to epitomise the 1980s and 1990s- ultra-glamourous, theatrical and rule-breaking.
