Vintage Trifari Taurus zodiac brooch, 1970s
Gold-tone circular brooch featuring a sculptural bull motif set within a textured ring. Part of Trifari's zodiac series produced during the 1970s, when the brand was at the height of its mass-market costume jewellery output. Signed to the reverse Trifari © — the mark used from 1970 onwards, after the crown was retired from the logo. Approximately 3cm / 1.25" in diameter.
Trifari was founded in New York in 1910 by Gustavo Trifari, a jeweller of Italian origin, and expanded significantly under head designer Alfred Philippe, who joined in 1930 having previously worked at Cartier. By the 1970s the company was one of the most recognised names in American costume jewellery, producing signed, collectible pieces across a wide range of styles. The zodiac series is among the more sought-after examples from this period.
Excellent condition with no notable wear.
