Vintage Jewellery Condition Guidelines
All pieces are assessed individually and described as accurately as possible. Vintage jewellery is rarely perfect — signs of age are expected and often part of its character. More noticeable wear is always reflected in the grading.
New Unworn. Original condition throughout.
Mint No discernible wear. May show faint signs of handling on close inspection.
Excellent Very lightly worn. Minor surface marks may be visible under close inspection but are not noticeable when worn.
Very Good Visible wear consistent with age and use. This may include light scratches, minor plating wear, or small marks to glass or enamel. No structural or functional issues.
What to Expect from Vintage
Most pieces will show some level of wear — light scratches, subtle plating variation, small imperfections in materials. These are part of the object's history and do not affect wearability.
Condition is a primary factor in pricing. Two otherwise identical pieces can vary considerably in value depending on wear.
Accuracy
All pieces are photographed and described as clearly as possible. Images form part of the description. We recommend reviewing them closely before purchase.
